Abstract

Indonesia is one of the developing countries that until now is still experiencing complex cases of poverty. Java Island is an island that has the largest number of poor people in Indonesia. One of the provinces with the highest number of poor people in Java is Central Java. To overcome the problem of poverty, the role of the government, through government spending on strategic sectors, is needed. Thus, this research was conducted to review the implications of government spending on health, education, and social protection on poverty in Central Java. In achieving the research objectives, researchers used an analytical method in the form of panel data regression. The results of this study indicate that poverty in Central Java is significantly and negatively affected by spending on the education sector and spending on social protection. Meanwhile, spending on the health sector has no effect on poverty in Central Java.
